Just to add to the fold...my brief thoughts on AvP...

Overall, I found it to be entertaining. Not consistently mind you (the movie was just plain boring whenever there weren't Aliens or Preds on screen), but the fight scenes, although few, were great. Without a doubt though, my fave aspect of the whole thing was the Queen. So fucking cool. The acting and dialogue was easy enough to swallow, but there were still plenty of dumb and silly lines/moments to go around. Again, though, it's all about the Preds and Aliens, and in that respect, this movie carries itself well enough. Consistency and pace were more issues I had (chestburster evolution, Weyland, etc.), but they didn't detract too heavily in grand scheme of the film.

And hey, no huge-ass arm swords! Which is strange, because you catch a brief glimpse of them when you first see a Pred arming himself. Maybe I missed them, but I didn't see any on the Preds thereafter. And yes, Gill and Celtic died WAY too fast, but that's another pace problem. However, I must admit that Scar was the epitome of badass.

All in all, I walked out mostly happy. Maybe it was because I didn't pay for the viewing on behalf of the free ticket, but if your an Alien and Pred fan, there's a lot there to put a smile on your face. And that's all I really wanted out of it.
